BYALA

The coastline of the municipality is characterized by a combination of rocky shore, small bays, beaches with sand dunes. The total length of the sea coast is 14.3 km or about 3% of the total length of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Most of the beaches have eastern, northeastern and southeastern exposure, which also offers more optimal conditions for sunshine. The total length of the beaches is 6244 m, or about 16% of the total length of the beaches located in the district of Varna.
The first settlement in the region of Byala probably appeared in the VI century BC. n.n. around the bay of Cape St. Athanasius. This is evidenced by the results of underwater archaeological research at this site in 1979 with the group "Space" and in 1988 and 1989 - with the diving group of NEK-UNESCO. The village was located next to a famous Roman road station / Temple of Jovis /, and around it there is a Roman fortress. The name of the station is given by the temple of Zeus.
